Mace leaves carwash industry for good

SOLON, OH — The company has been unloading its 55 carwashes for years now and has finally sold its last wash located in Arlington, TX.

SOLON, OH — Mace Security International, Inc. has left the carwashing business once and for all, having sold its last remaining carwash located in Arlington, TX, a 4-Traders story reported.

The Oct. 28 story said the company has been selling off its 55 car and truck washes for years now.

"This is another step in the transformation of the Mace® Brand into the most recognized name in safety and security," said John McCann, Mace Security International, Inc.'s President & CEO.

In March 2012, PC&D reported that Mace sold another carwash in Arlington for $2.1 million. The book value of the carwash was listed at $2 million last December. Mace netted $1.57 million from the sale after paying off a mortgage debt of $512,000. A year before that, PC&D reported that Mace Security International Inc., the manufacturer of personal defense and electronic surveillance products and former operator of one of the largest conveyor carwash chains in the industry, sold its Lubbock, TX, location for $1.7 million.
