Mike’s Carwash hosts fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey
LOVELAND, Ohio — On Saturday, Sept. 9th, all Mike’s Carwash locations are offering a discounted Ultimate Wash in support of those affected by Hurricane Harvey, according to a press release.
For every Ultimate Wash sold during the one-day fundraiser, $1 will be donated back to benefit Matthew 25: Ministries and its work with the poorest of the poor and disaster victims, the release stated.
Matthew 25: Ministries’ Disaster Response Team is on the ground in Texas with its full fleet of specialized vehicles, the release added; trucks are loaded with supplies, including personal care kits, cleaning products, first aid and safety kits, diapers, paper products and tarps.
Additionally, Matthew 25 began shipping semi-truckloads of aid on Aug. 31st, with many additional truckloads planned over the coming weeks, the release added.
“Our hearts go out to everyone that has been affected by Hurricane Harvey,” said Mike Dahm, president of Mike’s Carwash. “We encourage all of our customers to come get a wash for [the] cause this weekend to support the people in Texas recovering from this horrific disaster.”
Hurricane Harvey continues to be one of the worst flooding events in U.S. history, with up to 50 inches of rain in some areas; there have been thousands of water rescues, and approximately 7 million people have been affected by the flooding, the release concluded.
Sudsy’s Car Wash customers flood Texas with love
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Sudsy’s Car Wash, with locations at 1870 South Church St. in Murfreesboro and 3012 Belshire Village Dr. in Spring Hill, has embarked on a local campaign it’s calling, “Flood Texas with Love,” according to a press release.
“The goal is to raise $10,000 to be used in the Hurricane Harvey disaster relief effort,” Sudsy’s Owner Troy VanLiere said.
One hundred percent of the funds will be donated to Samaritan’s Purse U.S. Disaster Relief, the release added.
Sudsy’s will be donating $1 from every paid individual premium carwash during the month of September and accepting additional donations at each location and on its website, the release stated.
While the goal of $10,000 for the two-location, family-owned carwash is aggressive, the release noted, the owners, management and employees felt like they had to do something significant to help those whose lives have been shattered by the storm.
“Our hearts have been broken as we’ve watched the stories of individuals, families and whole communities devastated by Harvey,” VanLiere said. “The personal convictions we have as Christ-followers and the values our business was built on demand that we respond by loving our neighbors in a real and tangible way.”
Samaritan’s Purse currently has two disaster relief units in Texas to help residents as they continue to struggle with rain, flooding and destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey, but soon they will have a total of five of these tractor trailers in the state, setting up volunteer bases around Victoria, Rockport/Portland, Galveston/Santa Fe and two in Houston, the release added.
Customers can visit either Sudsy’s location to wash or donate in person or visit www.sudsys.com/flood for more details or to donate online, the release concluded.
