SPRING, Texas/SPRINGVILLE, Utah — Quick Quack Car Wash has announced the opening of its second Spring/third Northwest Houston, Texas, area location as well as the latest of at least 10 carwashes to be built in Utah County, Utah, over the next two years, according to company press releases.

The new carwash in Texas, open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., is located at 6242 FM 2920 (west of Kuykendahl Road, near Klein Crossing) and will be giving away free carwashes from Jan. 18-27 to celebrate its grand opening, one release stated.

“2017 is going to be a big year for Quick Quack in Northwest Houston,” said Todd Kimball, regional development partner of Quick Quack Car Wash. “We have plans to open at least three more locations this year, providing our fans additional convenience and value.”

The new Utah carwash is located at 942 W 450 South in Springville and will be giving away free carwashes from Jan. 25th through Feb. 3rd to celebrate its grand opening, another release added; the carwash is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.

The new Springville location is the fourth location in Utah after recent openings in Orem, Spanish Fork and Layton, the release noted; an additional location in Highland is already under construction and others in American Fork and Pleasant Grove will break ground very soon.

“We are thrilled that every community where we are opening carwashes has embraced us and our philosophy of speed and value,” said Ben Peay, regional operations leader of Quick Quack Car Wash in Utah. “Interest in our unlimited carwash club programs has grown tremendously and we celebrate each new membership.”

Mike’s Carwash opens new location in Eastgate

CINCINNATI — Mike’s Carwash has officially opened its 10th location in Ohio, located on Eastgate North Drive in Cincinnati, making it their 19th location in total throughout Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, according to a press release.

“We have been looking forward to opening our Eastgate store for quite some time,” said Mike Dahm, president of Mike’s Carwash. “We are testing some exciting new technology at this location that we think our customers will truly enjoy.”

This newest Mike’s Carwash has two new features including self-serve lanes and a conveyor belt running through the wash tunnel, replacing the classic chain and rollers concept, the release stated.

The new technology is being tested to make the wash process a simpler and stress-free experience for customers, the release noted.

“We opened the new Eastgate location on Friday, Dec. 30th,” said Greg Ries, executive vice president of Mike’s Carwash. “Now … we could not be more thrilled about the positive feedback we have been receiving from our customers about the changes.”

JoBabies Car Wash opens two locations

RUSSELVILLE, Ala. — According to franklincountytimes.com, JoBabies Car Wash opened two locations in Russellville and Phil Campbell, Alabama.

JoRudi Trapp, the owner, already operates a touchless and a self-serve wash in Russellville, the article noted, but he wanted the focus of the new Russellville location to be on speed.

“If you see five people in line, don’t think about turning away. It’s probably only going to take you about five or six minutes to get back on the road,” Trapp said.

The Russellville express wash location includes free vacuums, and Trapp plans to add a floor mat cleaner as well; the Phil Campbell location is touchless and also offers free vacuums, the article noted.

“Everything you can get in Birmingham, Huntsville, Atlanta ¾ you’ll be able to get it here,” Trapp said. “Our goal is to keep improving, and hopefully people respond to it.”

According to Trapp, the name JoBabies comes from the nickname his great-grandmother gave him, the article stated.

This year marks Trapp’s fifth year in the carwash business, the article concluded.

Waves Car Wash opens in Lewes

LEWES, Del. — According to the Cape Gazette, Waves Car Wash, a flex-serve model, designed for efficiency and speed, recently opened in Lewes, Delaware.

“It’s just a whole new concept,” said Mike Anthenelli, who owns the business with his wife, Danni. “This is a needed asset to the community.”

In addition to an express exterior wash, Waves also offers a full-service package that includes interior cleaning, the article noted; this process takes place that end of the wash in order to speed up the line for those who want exterior washes only.

“We’re able to get cars through more efficiently and get through more cars in a shorter amount of time,” Anthenelli said. “It also allows customers to receive whatever services they need that day, not necessarily a one-size-fits-all approach.”

Waves uses soft cloth foam in each of its three exterior wash packages: The Shorebreak for $10, The Pipeline for $15 and The Big Kahuna for $20, the article noted; full-service treatment can be added to any package for an additional $7, and treatments from other packages can also be added to any wash a la carte.

Memberships for unlimited washes are also available, the article stated, and club members have a dedicated lane at the entrance in addition to a 20 percent discount for additional cars.

There are two memberships, the article added: $29.99 per month grants members unlimited visits for The Pipeline wash, and $54.99 per month, the VIP Club members package, provides unlimited use of The Big Kahuna wash and the full service add-on.

“The unlimited options are so nice because you only have to come twice a month and it’s paid for,” Anthenelli said.

In addition, wash books offer customers two free washes with a purchase of five, the article stated, and gift cards are also available.

Waves is a green business, reclaiming about 90 percent of its water and featuring 278 solar panels on the roof, which supply about 70 percent of the electric, the article reported.

“I’m a surfer, and I love the beach,” Anthenelli said. “When we were building this, we wanted to make sure we kept the environment in mind as much as possible because it’s very important to minimize the impact to the bays and ocean.”

Waves Car Wash is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday. Hours will extend in the summer. For more information, call 302-200-9007, go to www.wavescarwash.net, and follow the business on Facebook and Instagram.

Extreme Clean Car Wash opens in Elgin

ELGIN, Ill. — According to The Chicago Tribune, Extreme Clean Car Wash opened in Elgin, Illinois, on the weekend of Jan. 14-15 on the remains of the site of what used to be JB’s Pub, an establishment that was shut down in part due to a five-year, $45 million project to renovate the interchange at McLean Blvd. and Route 20, which was completed in 2016.

On its opening weekend, the business gave free washes to thousands of people, the article stated.

“We washed more than 3,500 vehicles,” said Dan Gunsteen, co-owner of the Extreme Clean, adding that the promotion was a “thank you to everyone in Elgin and surrounding areas and to all the people that helped make the opening possible.”

Extreme Clean has five wash packages, starting at $3; the giveaway was for its most comprehensive $15 package.

Gunsteen has two partners in the business, Mike Stanko and Keith Knockeart, and the three own and operate other Extreme Clean washes in Rockford, South Holland, Chicago Ridge and East Dundee, the latter of which has been open for approximately five years.

“We were able to see through the dirt, dust and all the excavating equipment and had a vision to bring the business to this corner,” Gunsteen said. “About a year ago, we purchased the land and in August, we started construction on a state-of-the-art fully automatic car wash facility.”

According to the owners, the wash features a 140-foot tunnel and is a full-friction style setup using soft brushes and materials developed in Europe.

The new Extreme Clean location also has extensive video surveillance that the owners can access through phone apps, allowing them to check on the site at any point in time.

Extreme Clean also features free vacuums, an indoor, temperature-controlled vending area offering car care products as well as an indoor, heated bay for dog washing, which also offers a skunk spray removal cleaner.

“We are truly grateful to Elgin and for the support we received in getting this moved along,” Gunsteen said. “Elgin is a great place to bring businesses.”

Reaching new reclaim heights

There is a lot of variety in the carwash industry. Not only are there different types of washes, but the design, equipment, chemistry, staffing and service can greatly vary from one site to the next. However, there’s one non-negotiable constant in every wash: Water.

Since water — and lots of it — is so essential to this industry, it only makes sense to strive for ways to maximize every single drop. That’s where the reclaim process comes in. Collecting, rehabilitating and reusing as much water as possible is essential to protect the environment, the availability of resources and a carwash’s bottom line. That’s why industry leaders are currently driving innovation to find ways to reclaim even more water than ever.
