YORK AND KITTERY, ME ― The Auto Spa Car Wash chain, with locations in both York and Kittery, will donate all of this weekend's profits to Auto Spa employee Charles Carter and his wife who are trying to buy a wheelchair van to help in transporting their developmentally disabled son, a Seacoastonline.com story said.
The May 23 story quoted Auto Spa Owner David Woods who said, "We have the capacity of 1,800 cars a day at each. It definitely has the ability to get a good check for that van."
Woods described Carter as a quiet and hard-working employee. He said he learned of his son's condition after reading about it in The York Weekly. After reading it, he immediately called Carter and said he wanted to help him out.
With a minimum price of $10 per wash, Woods thinks there's a chance to raise $36,000.
The Dakota's Ride Benefit Car Wash will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on May 26, 27 and 28.
