PEORIA, Ill. — A new Hy-Vee convenience store will open Aug. 14, and will eventually feature a carwash, according to the Journal Star.
A full-service Hy-Vee grocery store is planned for an area just north of the convenience store, but the two will be separate entities, the article said. Store director Dan Simon said ground should be broken on the project in one year to 18 months.
The Iowa-based chain has about 140 convenience stores located adjacent to its grocery stores, noted Simon in the article. Property-acquisition issues prevented the company from building a convenience store next to its location in Peoria, stated the article.
Simon also said the proposed grocery store would serve those coming in from other communities who have no other places to shop for groceries.
