Cars get spa-like treatment while customers shop for candy
Thursday, April 10, 2008

RAMSEY, NJ — A new eco-friendly carwash, detailing and oil change facility opened recently here and offers everything from free Wi-Fi, gourmet coffee, leather chairs and an old-fashioned candy store, according to a recent press release.

The April 5 release said a grand opening celebration of Classic Auto Spa & Express Care started on April 4 and is being celebrated through April 13. Show cars, free hot dogs, giveaways and carwash, detailing and oil change specials were and are being offered during the 9-day event.

Owners and brothers Tom and Rich Masterson are making sure the establishment is eco-friendly.

According to the press release, 95 percent of the water used is reclaimed, recycled and then reused. "Often the driveway runoff runs into the street or sewers. This water flows untreated into local lakes and streams and can be harmful to the environment,” Tom said in the press release.

The brothers are also looking into installing solar panels and possibly using wind power.  “As a new grandfather, I feel a sense of obligation to be responsible to our future generations,” said Tom.
