MILFORD, NJ — Shammy Shine Car Washes has extensively remodeled and updated its Bethlehem, PA, location at the intersection of Routes 22 & 191 in Bethlehem Township, according to a recent press release. The Milford, NJ-based chain has twelve locations and is among the largest conveyor carwash operators in the nation.
The Dec. 21 release said the carwash now offers its customers the use of free vacuums — a first for any Shammy Shine location — and also installed computer controlled tunnel equipment to precisely meter cleaning solutions and improve water conservation.
“The computer system allows us to conserve electricity, water and wash solutions, consistent with our eco-friendly corporate approach” explained co-owner H. Craig Stem. “The technology company we work with, Innovative Control Systems, sells the equipment and software we use permitting customers to place their order and complete the transaction electronically, much like a touch-screen ATM machine. In addition to speeding up the transaction, it allows us to better control labor permitting a significant wash price reduction.”
According to the release, Shammy Shine test marketed their first Auto Attendant Express Exterior conversion at their Flemington, NJ, location and has since expanded the express exterior wash experience to all four Lehigh Valley locations.
The release said future plans for the company include additional conversions in the Lehigh Valley of the traditional exterior wash locations to the new Express Exterior Auto Attendant facility.
