LATHAM, NY – Professional Carwashing & Detailing magazine has been named the official media sponsor of the second annual WashUSA, a national carwash fund-raiser designed to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America.
The event, to be held November 2, will look to get 1,000 carwashes nationwide to contribute a portion of a day's proceeds to Make-A-Wish, a charity that fulfills the wishes of terminally ill children.
The 2001 fund-raiser, which WashUSA said raised nearly $40,000 for the International Committee of the Red Cross, saw participation from more than 100 carwash operators and manufacturers.
Although the efforts were primarily on the East Coast, a group of Denver operators also participated.
The 2002 fundraiser is expected to surpass those numbers significantly, and Professional Carwashing & Detailing will assist the effort by providing media coverage for the event and helping enlist participating carwashes.
"We're honored to have an opportunity to help such a worthy charity as Make-A-Wish, while putting a spotlight on the important work being done by hundreds of civic-minded carwashers," said Professional Carwashing & Detailing Publisher Humphrey S. Tyler. "This event is an opportunity for leaders in the carwashing business to work together to move the image of the industry forward. We encourage other carwash leaders to get involved."
