Owner awarded for business ethics

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Butch Mormando of Butch's Hand Car Wash & Auto Detailing was presented with the Best of the Boro Award.

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Butch Mormando of Butch's Hand Car Wash & Auto Detailing was presented with the Best of the Boro Award, silive.com reported.

The Sept. 19 story said Mormando, who is involved in multiple charitable organizations, has been in business for about 40 years. It started out in 1973 as an exterior carwash with self-serve vacuums and in 1979 he converted from automated plastic brushes to chamois cloths.

Later in 1999 he converted the business to a hand wash using a trained staff, non-abrasive soaps and polishes and high-pressure water.
