CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The owners of Downtowner Car Wash have presented plans for a third location in the area, according to Fort-Myers-Beach-Observer.com.
If approved, development of the land would include the demolition of a vacant building and the construction of new structures similar to the company’s other locations, noted the article.
The site is outside the commission’s core area, so commissioners will not get involved in the special exception plan, stated the article.

The city’s economic development director helped the owners find the site, reported the article. One of the owners asked the board to positively recommend the plans to the planning and zoning commission.
Plans for the new carwash include a pet wash, express wash and full-serve option, shared the article. The $14.5 million facility would include LED lighting and a water reclamation system. “We also capture rainwater from the roof to use in the wash process, energy-saver switches and efficient motors,” said co-owner Jay Montpetit, in the article.
The project would generate 150 construction jobs in addition to 30 permanent positions, explained the article.
