REDONDO BEACH, CA — Despite concerns of noise and pollution by residents Chris McKenna received permission by local officials to open a carwash at the site of a long shuttered carwash location.
The public hearing lasted nearly six hours. McKenna did amend his plan from an express carwash to a full service model to cut down on the potential noise.
According to the Daily Breeze story, McKenna’s attorney Carmen Trutanich said the council had originally approved the site plan after requiring seven different revisions.
Proposed carwash strongly opposed by residents
The four to one approval did not come with some conditions, however. The carwash will only be allowed to operate between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays and restrictions against self-serve vacuum stations and credit card kiosks will be in place.
McKenna will also be restricted to washing 10,000 cars a month.
