RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — The roof trusses have been installed for the rebuilding of a Shammy Shine carwash that was destroyed by fire in September, nj.com reported.
The Nov. 21 story stated that the roof was not the only part of the carwash that needed replacing. All of the automatic carwash equipment was destroyed as well.
“The equipment we have ordered is quite a bit different than what we had, which was somewhat dated,” Craig Stem, president of family business, said. “We’re getting an air dryer that is state-of-the art, for the exit end. It’s low-energy and low-noise, made by a company in Colorado. It’s a pretty high-end unit.”
Destructive fire began in detailing bay
While waiting for the rebuild, the location is still offering hand carwashing and oil changes. The wash will also sell gift cards that are good for other Shammy Shine locations.
“With the automatic, we could process a car in 10 or 15 minutes,” Stem said in the story. “Now it’s s up to about 35 minutes, and so we’re only able to do about 40 percent of what we could do” before the fire.
