PARKER, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Team Special Olympics (RMTSO) raised nearly $1,000 at its fundraiser held at Kwik Car Wash on Aug. 2, according to a press release.
The team earned 50 percent of carwash sales during the fundraiser. Team members and volunteers raised additional funds by vacuuming and towel drying cars, noted the release.
RMTSO Fundraising Chair Maura Klene said in the release, “Because of [the town’s] generous support, we can replenish sports supplies and keep offering our sports at no charge to families of children with special needs.”
RMTSO is affiliated with Colorado Special Olympics. Individuals aged 6 to 60 years old must deal with the nature of their disabilities while participating in a variety of sports. Participants learn new skills, make new friends and enjoy friendly competition with other Special Olympians.
