A time of industry changes - Professional Carwashing & Detailing

A time of industry changes

Industry shifts expected to continue this year.

Last year was not short of big, breaking professional carwash industry news. October’s news of Sonny’s Enterprises, LLC, acquiring Diamond Shine was one of the bigger news stories to be featured in our Carwash eNews biweekly eNewsletter, not only in the last quarter of 2017 but for the entire year as a whole.

Also in the acquisition news late last year was our own publication. Effective Dec. 1st, Akron, Ohio-based Babcox Media acquired Professional Carwashing & Detailing. You can learn more about this great partnership in this issue’s Industry Watch section and at Carwash.com.

Changes are seemingly being witnessed on a monthly — sometimes weekly — basis on every level of the professional carwash industry supply chain. From manufacturers to suppliers to carwash operators, we are seeing big shifts in the industry.

In the November issue, for example, we featured our list of Top 50 U.S. Conveyor Carwash Chains, and there were obviously some big changes there as well. As noted in the issue, “ … 40 percent of the top 10 [U.S. carwash chains] are new to the rankings. … Of further note is the fact that there are 183 more locations in just the top 10 compared to last year’s list (from 575 to 758) — a 32 percent increase.”

If you are a regular reader of this magazine, you are likely well-informed of the industry trends and big news that hit the market in recent months and years. By visiting our website, Carwash.com, and signing up to receive our free biweekly Carwash eNews, which is delivered every Monday and Thursday, excluding most major U.S. holidays, you can stay updated as the news is happening.

Also, by joining our carwash community on Carwash.com as well as our social channels — Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn — you can connect with over 8,000 like-minded peers.

Big industry news will most certainly occur this year, and being mindful of it as it happens will be important in 2018. Some of this industry news will impact your business more than others. But, there is no doubt the industry is changing, and in order to keep up and change with it, carwash owners and operators must stay plugged in today.

Like one of our country’s founding fathers Benjamin Franklin warned, “By failing to plan, you are planning to fail.” We’re here to help you stay prepared with industry changes and plan for your future.
