WARRENSBURG, NY — A contaminated property that used to be home to a carwash and gas station here will soon be owned by the town, Poststar.com reported.
The April 12 story stated that the property was deemed contaminated in 2001 by a Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) study. The property is currently owned by the county, and the cleanup was paid for by a brownfield grant.
The town recently received a certificate of completion from the DEC for the former Econo-Quick Gas & Car Wash site, and now the county will probably transfer the land by the end of the month.
Supervisor Kevin Geraghty reported the certificate was received in the story.
