ADELAIDE, Australia — Linfox has installed a specially-designed truck washing systems that can wash a truck in 15 minutes, according to an Australian Mining report.
The June 24 story said Linfox Chairman Peter Fox knew something had to be done to properly wash their trucks, which could be encased with mud during certain seasons. Previously, trucks were cleaned with a pressure washes, buckets and brooms. Now, the new truck washing system, which took a year to design, goes through an intricate cycle, and comes out clean in record time.
The washing cycle starts with the truck passing through a cooling system in which arches spray the vehicle with 750 litres per minute of cold water. Next the truck gets an underbody washing and then “sidespinners” remove the muck from the truck's sides and wheels.
A manual washing system also allows workers to clean the top and lower parts of the trucks with washguns. Finally, the truck goes through a rinsing arch.
Ken Harrison, business development manager for the firm in charge of the truck wash, stated in the story, "…It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever done, it’s absolutely sensational, but on top of that it runs like clockwork. …The word from Linfox was that it sets the benchmark for truck washes for Linfox Australia.”
