ILKLEY, ENGLAND — A carwash accused of polluting a nature center with its runoff now has a new water recycling system in operation, the Ilkley Gazaette reported.
Fishermen claim carwash is polluting their water
The Oct. 25 story stated that the equipment was installed and is no up and running at the Hand Car Wash. The installation of the sealed-in drainage and water recycling system was a condition granted for business by the city council.
A ward councilor and the District Angling Association claimed the wash’s water waste was polluting land near the business. But, the Environment Agency stated it was satisfied with the water being contained on-site.
Improvements stifle fishermen’s complaints
The property’s owner, Michael Booth, stated that the new system will recycle all the water used at the wash, and the cost was less than 40,000 pounds.
