Wash bay poll gives Obama a slight lead

PENN HILLS, PA — Obama supporters are sent to the left bay while Romney supporters use the right.

PENN HILLS, PA — Customers of Splash Touchless wash here can show their presidential preference while sprucing up their cars, TribLive.com reported.

The Oct. 13 story stated that two in-bay automatic carwashes have become damp voting booths. Signs have been posted at the wash — Obama supporters are directed to the left bay while Romney supporters use the right.

Politician claims wash was sold; adviser disagrees

Since the bays are computerized, Owner Scott Glover knows exactly how many customers use the two washes. The numbers are totaled daily and displayed on the wash’s LED sign and on its Facebook page. The numbers so far show Obama has a slight lead.

“People are pretty passionate about their candidate,” Glover, 52, said in the story. “I got a call from a woman who was upset that she had to go through the Obama side because she didn’t want to wait in line for the Romney side. I assured her this wasn’t the real election and told her if she wanted her vote counted correctly that I would make the adjustment.”

Creative owner tallies election poll

This is the second presidential election where Glover has attempted to poll customers using his carwash bays. In 2008, the results came pretty close to mirroring what happened on election night, according to Glover.
