SIBU, MALAYSIA — After a businessman here sent his silver Toyota to the carwash last weekend, it ended up in a police lockup, Borneo Post Online reported.
The Oct. 29 story stated that police came to inspect the car after the carwash operator noticed it could be stolen property. The vehicle’s chassis number had been altered, and it had a fake plate number.
Owner sets up sting for stolen wash packages
Police had the car’s 29-year-old owner under remand for three days, but he claimed he had no idea the car was stolen property. He supposedly made a down payment on the car and was to continue paying monthly installments.
