LEMONT, IL — Lemont Express Car Wash was closed and fenced off last week to prepare for its multi-million dollar makeover, according to LemontPatch.
The July 24 story quoted the wash’s owner, Bill Klump, who said the new carwash will be “better, faster and cheaper.” In fact, the whole business model will change after the complex doubles in size and prices are cut for the washes.
The new facility will include a 150-foot automatic wash tunnel with state-of-the-art equipment and a free vacuum system for customers. When the new wash opens, prices will range from $3 to $12, and the basic wash will only take three minutes.
“At this point, the equipment is out-dated and in need of repair,” Klump said in the article. “If you don’t update the equipment, the washes lack in quality and won’t be as efficient. We’re looking to correct that.”
Lemont Express Car Wash opened in 1987, but its last makeover came in 1999 when Klump bought the wash. Construction should be completed on the business by November.
