MANCHESTER, England — A waterless hand wash and valeting service has launched a location at MediaCityUK, a waterfront site on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Staffed by veterans, stated the article, Urban Car Spa provides exterior and interior cleaning as well as minor maintenance and advisory services.
“MediaCityUK was a natural choice for our next location [because] over a third of all army recruits come from the northwest,” said Jonny Rees-Davies, veteran and managing director of Urban Car Spa, in the article. “Former soldiers can have a difficult time readjusting to life after serving for our country. Our aim is to help reintegrate them back into working life by giving them an opportunity to be part of a familiar team structure with people like them. Ex-servicemen and women have many qualities — including integrity, attention to detail and a sense of duty — that we draw on to deliver an excellent customer experience.”
The carwash saves up to 11 gallons (40 liters) of water per wash, or half a bath, reported the article.
The new location, which is situated in the multistory car park at MediaCityUK, is the fourth location for Urban Car Spa in England, continued the article.
The chain is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, added the article.
In addition to the launch of its new location, noted the article, Urban Car Spa recently received the Deloitte award for “Service Leaver’s Independent Start-up of the Year” as well as the award for “Employer Committed to Employing Service leavers” at the 2015 National Resettlement Awards.
