ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. — Harry Sandwith is looking for Air Force One (AFO) detailers to help him expand his new Hogfather Motorcycle Detailing Shop, according to a press release.

A three-time supervisor of the AFO team, Sandwith will select members of the group to train and open their own Hogfather shops, noted the release. So far Sandwith has established five locations, with another to open in the summer.

Sandwith is a master detailer and paint correction specialist, reported the release. His most recent job involved cleaning up a motorcycle with stage two paint correction and clay bar, and then sealing the graphics with a long-lasting protective coating.

The idea for Hogfather began after Flex Power Tools invited Sandwith to be the guest motorcycle detailer at the SEMA show last fall, stated the release.

“I had so many requests from the AFO detailers, also known as the Detail Mafia, to show them the intricacies of detailing a fine bike, that I began flying out to their locations to spend time with them,” Sandwith said in the release. “It is growing almost faster than I can keep up.”

According to research compiled by  International Carwash Association (ICA), bay wash formats — in-bay automatics (IBA) and self-serves — consist of approximately 72% of all retail carwash locations in the U.S. That share of the pie is even higher in Europe and Australia — where IBAs and self-serve locations comprise 88% and 97% of total locations respectively, notes ICA. But, while these formats aren’t new, what’s happening in and around these bays is changing with the times.
