COLUMBIA, Pa. — According to www.lancasteronline.com, after setting a fire at Kleen-Rite Car Wash on Nov. 30th, Salvatore C. Batto III was identified and arrested on felony charges for arson and criminal mischief.
The fire was reported at 3 p.m. that day, and a witness extinguished it with a fire extinguisher, the article continued.
One witness reported seeing a man set the fire inside a large bay and that when Batto was confronted, he fled on foot, the article noted.
Police from West Hempfield Township found Batto a short while later about four blocks from the fire, the article added; he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with burns on the sleeves, and he fit the description from the witness.
Damage to the building was estimated to be $20,000, and no one was injured, the article concluded.
