GLADSTONE, Australia — CQ Mariners President Brian Niven views a carwash as a way to become financially sustainable, but their bid for the wash was rejected in April, according to The Observer.
Mayor Gail Sellers said that the council received 18 objections to the proposed 24-hour wash. "In this case I strongly believe we've done the right thing," said Sellers, about the decision in the article.

The site for the proposed carwash was not suited for commercial use according to the council, stated the article.
Niven has plans to continue to push for a carwash, and the non-profit club continues to explore other sponsorship deals as well.
