Auto repair shop seeks new location following court order

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. — City Council voted in favor to enter a standstill agreement with Auto Beauty Specialists, which will allow the detailing and auto repair shop to continue operations until a new site is ready.

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. — Webster Groves City Council is giving Auto Beauty Specialists more time to comply with terms of a court order which requires the auto repair shop to relocate, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The City Council voted in favor to enter a standstill agreement with the detailing and auto repair shop, stated the article, which will allow Auto Beauty Specialists to continue operations until a new site is ready.

The business was mandated in a 1994 settlement between the shop and the city to cease its auto body and collision repair services by Jan. 1, continued the article.

Auto Beauty Specialists “obtained a permit to conduct the services at a new location on North Price Road in Olivette, but its owner said it will take at least six months to make the move and be fully operational,” reported the article.

Over the past several months, crowds gathered at the City Council meetings with many residents in support of the business, informed the article, which has been at operation at a building in the city’s Old Webster section since 1968.

After the city determined auto body and collision repair services were not permitted use under the zoning of the property, stated the article, Auto Beauty Specialists entered into a consent agreement in 1994.

The business attempted to have the property rezoned in 2012 and in 2015, noted the article, however both efforts were rejected.
