Bouncy ball litter no joke for carwash

KIRKLAND, WA — A worker at Kingsgate Carwash has been collecting the balls for about a year.

KIRKLAND, WA — Bouncy balls have begun appearing in undesirable places on the streets here, according to the Kirkland Reporter.

The Nov. 2 story stated that David Wood, a worker at Kingsgate Carwash, has been collecting the rubber balls for about a year. So far he has gathered 263 of the toys.

City makes move to prohibit vending machines

The balls are actually from a Little Caesars location close to the wash. The carwash is down slope from the restaurant, so the balls end up rolling toward the business. “Kids bang the balls (onto the pavement) and they make it into the ivy,” Wood said in the article.

The balls can cause problems because they tend to end up in storm drains. The city’s stormwater and sewer division manager said the city does not want the balls in the storm drains and placing them there is illegal.

Battling dirty bays

The owner of the Little Caesars location stated that customers can win free “crazy bread” if they get a ball with a character’s picture on it. He did note that employees patrol the parking lot and they pick up the balls daily.
