Car care businesses join together for Grace for Vets

CHICAGO — The Grace for Vets program was established in 2004 by Mike Mountz, a former operator in Pennsylvania, and has grown each year since its inception.

CHICAGO — The Professional Carwashing & Detailing editors have covered several car care businesses offering free services to veterans and active duty military for Veterans Day on Nov. 11 as part of the Grace for Vets program.

Some of these businesses are even extending their promotions through the end of 2015.

The Grace for Vets program was established in 2004 by Mike Mountz, a former operator in Pennsylvania, and has grown each year since its inception.

In 2014, more than 2,800 carwashes gave away over 233,000 free washes to veterans and active duty military, and Grace for Vets is hoping to surpass 250,000 washes this year.

The International Carwash Association (ICA) took over operational management of the Grace for Vets program this year following Mountz’ retirement from the industry. You can learn more about ICA’s involvement here.

In addition to the car care businesses recently covered in past editions of Carwash eNews, several others are participating this year for Veterans Day, such as Scrubby’s Car Wash in Lumberton, North Carolina. Read more on this carwash here.

7-Eleven will provide free carwashes to active duty military and veterans at its participating carwashes for the fourth year in a row. The company operates more than 300 carwashes in 16 states. You can read more on 7-Eleven’s Veterans Day promotion here.

Its fourth year participating in the Grace for Vets program, Casey’s General Stores Inc. will be offering free washes for veterans and active military personal at all of its 75 carwash locations (Casey’s Express Car Washes). You can learn more about Casey’s here.

Furthermore, Quick Quack Car Wash, a growing chain of exterior-only, express carwashes, will also be offering free washes at its locations to veterans and military personnel. The carwash has participated in the Grace for Vets program for seven years. You can find a press release on the upcoming Veterans Day event here.

Terrible’s Car Wash will once again be participating in the Grace for Vets program as well, offering free washes and car care inspections to veterans and active duty military. Terrible Herbst will offer Veterans Day specials at all 19 manned carwash locations and 21 Lube locations in Las Vegas and Bullhead City, Arizona. You can find more information on Terrible’s Car Wash’s Veterans Day promotion here.

Cleaning Systems Inc. (CSI) also announced it will be hosting a Car Washes for Veterans event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 11 for Veterans Day at Richmond Street Car Wash in Appleton, Wisconsin. Read more about this event here.

“We are proud to offer veterans a small token of gratitude for their service to our great nation,” said Dave Krause, president and CEO of CSI, in a press release. “Words cannot adequately express the sincere gratitude felt by everyone, at every tier of our organization, for the tremendous sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country.”
