ATMORE, Ala. — According to www.atmorenews.com, a carjacking took place at Snappy Car Wash on Oct. 30th in broad daylight on the city’s busiest street.
Police reports state that a male and female, reportedly a woman and her adult son, were carjacked at the carwash and forced at gunpoint to drive to a location a few blocks away, where the carjackers robbed them of their valuables, the article continued.
“The report was made around 9:17 a.m.,” said Police Chief Chuck Brooks. “The female and male had pulled into Snappy Car Wash when two male subjects, one of them brandishing a firearm, got into their car and forced them to drive to a residence on Mobile St.”
The armed carjackers forced the man to enter the residence and undress while the woman was kept inside the car, the article noted.
The suspects searched the man’s clothes and person but found nothing of value, the article added.
“They didn’t get anything from him, so they went back out to the car and stole a backpack and a wallet,” said Brooks, adding that neither of the victims was injured. “They then fled around the house, on foot, and the victims were able to call police.”
Atmore police have not yet made an arrest, but they have identified a person of interest, the article concluded.
