STRATHFIELD, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA — A carwash chain which has outlets around Sydney is facing court allegations it underpaid hundreds of foreign workers, the Inner West Courier reported.
The Nov. 28 story stated that Crystal Carwash Café Pty Ltd.’s director and part owner, as well as one other employee, are being prosecuted. Allegedly, the company underpaid 359 workers; mostly young Asian workers who were on student or working-holiday visas.

The offences allegedly occurred between January and September of 2010. A number of labor-hire firms were purported to employ these individuals. However, the Fair Work Ombudsman alleges that the arrangements were questionable and the carwash chain was the true employer.
Laws relating to the keeping of employment records were supposedly breached as well.
