Carwash raises money for disabled veterans

RICHMOND, Va. — In addition to participating in the Grace for Vets program, Flagstop Car Wash teamed up with Disabled American Veterans for the second time to raise donations.

RICHMOND, Va. — Flagstop Car Wash participates in the Grace for Vets program every year on Veterans Day, according to a press release.

Grace for Vets is a program for which carwashes across four countries join together to honor veterans and active duty military with free washes on Nov. 11.

Flagstop also teamed up with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) for the second year to collect donations, reported the release.

The carwash chain collected money at all eight of its locations for DAV, continued the release, and to encourage customers to donate, Flagstop offered free washes to any customer who donated money to the cause.

By the end of the day, the wash gave away more than 1,200 free washes to military personal and donating customers, informed the release, and all money raised was donated to DAV for a total of $1,818.

The organization said it planned to use the money to sponsor the National 5K-Walk for Disabled Veterans, added the release, and the walk is projected to raise more money which will go toward providing local veterans with department service programs, women veteran programs, homeless/welfare and relief programs, assistance for veterans’ family and caregivers, transportation and more.

Flagstop plans to work with DAV again in the future, added the release.

Established in 1981, noted the release, the carwash has grown to include eight locations which feature full-serve, express, self-serve, pet washes, in-bay automatics and quick lubes throughout the greater Richmond and tri-city areas.
