DETROIT — A number of businesses here gave discounts and free services to encourage people to vote, CBSDetroit reported.
The Nov. 6 story stated that Colonial Car Wash got into the act giving away carwashes until 7 p.m. on Election Day. The washes normally run $7 to $14.

“We started four years ago when people were just so geeked up about the election — it’s just our little way of giving back in the community,” Mark Owner, owner of Colonial, said in the story. “It’s an exciting day, they’re all geeked up, and they get to come and get something for free.”
Other items voters could receive included desserts, bracelets, doughnuts and retail discounts.
