DO QUOIN, Ill. — Mary Black became interested in the carwash business in the mid-70’s, but had trouble convincing her husband that a business that ran on change was a good idea.
However, after being involved in a fundraiser at a local carwash, and helping the owner carry his profits for the day, Bob Black had a change of heart. “From the time I lifted my first 5 gallon bucket of quarters, I was hooked on the car wash business,” according to the article.
The couple was extremely motivated to start a carwash, and after 13 rejections from lenders, they finally had their chance. They have come a long way from the $17.42 the couple had in their bank account when they started their first carwash in 1976.

They are now owners, or part-owners, of 300 Super Wash carwashes.
