City councilman/carwash owner recycles house

CLARKSVILLE, TN — A new $2 million Screaming Eagle Car Wash is being built that will recycle 80 percent of its water.

CLARKSVILLE, TN — A newly built wash here will be one of two Screaming Eagle Car Washes in the area owned by businessman Jeff Burkhart. Work began on the $2 million project earlier this summer, The Leaf-Chronicle reported.

The Sept. 25 story stated that one of Burkhart’s main priorities for the new project is keeping both the construction and operation of the facility environmentally friendly.

Law requiring carwashes to recycle water passed in CA

First, Burkhart, a city councilman, chose to disassemble an existing house on the property instead of dumping it in the landfill. The house was taken apart in such a way that it can be reassembled elsewhere in the future.

Also, the new Screaming Eagle will recycle 80 percent of its water and only use 15 gallons of water per wash. Burkhart said that the average hand wash at home can use up to 60 gallons.

The new wash will employ six to seven people; some of the jobs will be full-time and others part-time. Burkhart hopes to have the wash ready by Thanksgiving of this year.
