CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Downtowners Car Wash’s plans for expansion were denied by city planning and zoning officials, according to winknews.com.
The city officials said the carwash company “is the wrong fit for Cape Coral Parkway,” stated the article.
Downtowners Car Wash is appealing the city’s decision, reported the article, and in just a week the wash has received more than 1,000 signatures to help back its claim.
“A lot of our current customers at [our] Del Prado location are asking when we’re going to be somewhere in the south Cape,” said Troy Montpetit, co-owner of Downtowner Car Wash, in the article. “So that area is right outside of the core, so we thought it would be a nice fit.”
City officials assert the carwash would not be compatible with “their ‘vision’ for the area,” stating the area of Cape Coral Parkway is “the gateway to the city,” noted the article.
