PITTSFIELD, Mich. — The township’s planning commission is recommending against plans for a new Zippy’s Auto Wash after opposition from nearby residents, according to mlive.com.
Locals were concerned about noise, increased traffic, pollution, lights, property value impact and children’s safety if the carwash came to the neighborhood, said the article.
Several commissioners acknowledged Zippy as a “good corporate citizen,” but still felt the location would be more appropriate in another area of the town.
The carwash chain wanted the lot to be re-zoned for commercial use. “We would like you in Pittsfield Township, but perhaps in a more commercially zoned area,” Planning Commission Chair Matthew Payne said to the business, reported the article.
The carwash plans to operate between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., though vacuums will be accessible 24 hours per day.
