CSP magazine launches c-store retailing award

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. — The Category Manager of the Year Award will be awarded to the “leading category managers” in the convenience store retailing sector.

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. — CSP magazine has launched the Category Manager of the Year Award, according to a press release.

This recognition will be awarded to the “leading category managers” in the convenience store retailing sector, stated the release.

“Category managers are the driving force behind the growth of the convenience-store industry,” said Jim Bursch, executive vice president of convenience for Winsight LLC (formerly CSP Business Media), in the release. “Prior to today, these extremely dedicated, laser-focused men and women have not been given the recognition they deserve. We see this program quickly becoming the most significant award honoring category managers in our channel.”

The supplier partners will choose the nominees and winners of the award, added the release.

Category managers will be recognized in eight product categories, continued the release, including alcohol beverages, candy, food service, general merchandise/HBC, OTP, packaged beverages, snacks and tobacco.

Two winners will be selected from each category, reported the release, with one chosen from chains with one to 100 stores and another from operations with 101 or more stores.

Those who are honored with the award will be recognized at a special ceremony as well as featured in CSP’s 2016 Category Management Handbook.
