ST. LOUIS — Rain Tunnel Express Car Wash will give customers a discount when they support Shoeman Water Projects, a charity that helps people in developing nations gain access to clean water, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The charity collects shoes at its donation stations at local businesses. Then it donates them so the profits from re-selling or exporting them can be used to repair water pumps and drill wells, said the article.
Customers will receive $1 off the carwash’s MONSOON Premium Wash for every pair of shoes they donate, noted the article.

Rain Tunnel owners Scott Knight said in the article that many people clean out their shoe collection when the seasons change.
“Don’t just toss them, those shoes may likely have the power to help a person who really needs clean water – a basic necessity for good health,” stated Knight in the article.
The MONSOON Premium Car Wash regularly costs $10 before any discounts.
