Detail shop opens in Michigan

BLISSFIELD, MI ― Blissfield Lock & Detail also offers locksmithing services to help the owner, Jack Wilson, during his slower months in the winter.

BLISSFIELD, MI ― Jack Wilson learned how to detail cars at his family business when he was a teenager, and now he owns his own business, Blissfield Lock & Detail, which also includes locksmithing services, the Daily Telegram reported.

The Jan. 21 story said Wilson's daughter Ashely is the co-owner.

Wilson's father owned ABC Lock and Key as well as the West End Car Wash and Adrian A1 Lock and Key and A1 Detailing. He said owning a diversified business makes sense.

“Locksmithing helps me get through the off-season,” he said in the story. “Most people don’t detail their cars in the wintertime.”

Eventually, Wilson would like to expand his menu of offerings and offer drive-through services for customers.

According to research compiled by International Carwash Association (ICA), bay wash formats — in-bay automatics (IBA) and self-serves — consist of approximately 72% of all retail carwash locations in the U.S. That share of the pie is even higher in Europe and Australia — where IBAs and self-serve locations comprise 88% and 97% of total locations respectively, notes ICA. But, while these formats aren’t new, what’s happening in and around these bays is changing with the times.
