Detailing shop offers ‘text buster’ service

GRAND LEDGE, MI — Design Rides, a car installation and detailing business located here, is offering customers a device that keeps drivers from texting while drivien, WLNS reported.

The April 2 story said the device, plus installation costs $150.

The hardware is installed right onto a Blackberry or Android phone and a device is then hidden in a vehicle's dashboard. Along with texting, it also disables e-mail and Internet access. Phone calls and GPS mapping still function as normal.

According to research compiled by International Carwash Association (ICA), bay wash formats — in-bay automatics (IBA) and self-serves — consist of approximately 72% of all retail carwash locations in the U.S. That share of the pie is even higher in Europe and Australia — where IBAs and self-serve locations comprise 88% and 97% of total locations respectively, notes ICA. But, while these formats aren’t new, what’s happening in and around these bays is changing with the times.
