Detergents in creek cause fish kill

FRONT ROYAL, Va. — Discharge from a local carwash caused a fish kill in Happy Creek on Friday, Aug. 8, according to the North Virginia Daily.

In the article, Town Manager Steve Burke said an unknown amount of detergent was discharged into the creek.

Drinking water was not affected, and the Department of Environmental Quality said the creek was safe for recreational use, stated the article.

An investigation is underway.
