KIRKLAND, Wash. — Kingsgate Car Wash hosted a fundraiser for the Juanita High School girls swim and dive team, according to the Kirkland Reporter.
The team sold pre-loaded carwash gift cards with a value of $36 to be used at the wash, said the article.
Parent Julie Harder stated in the article that growing environmental concern and city policy changes have made it difficult for the team to hold its own carwashes.
“The Rebels have struggled with fundraising in recent years,” said Harder in the article. “In the past, the team traditionally had one or two car washes in the Kirkland area, hoping to raise enough money for team swimsuits. But with the changes in city policies and the growing concern for pollution caused by gas station car washes it has become increasingly difficult for the team to hold the car washes.”
The team raised more than $2,700 to purchase new swim suits for its 45-member team, noted the article.
