Drivers cleaning off the snow and salt after storms

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — After large snowfall on Tuesday and Wednesday that led to a sand and salt mixture on the roads, drivers are cleaning off their cars, according to The Daily Press.

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — Large snowfall on Tuesday and Wednesday led to local work crews putting a mixture of sand and salt on the roads. Drivers are now cleaning off their cars, to prevent the chemicals from sticking to them, according to The Daily Press.

Dustin Newcomb says the drive during and after the storm made him need to get his car cleaned off. “The salt kind of corrodes the paint. I want to get it washed off. It got absolutely covered with salt this week,” he said in the article.

Owner of Soap N’ Suds, George Polyzos, said the carwash business has been impacted positively by the storm. “When we get snow like this, we’re busy for days afterward with lines wrapped around the building.”

Polyzos said it is particularly important to wash the undercarriage of the car because it can lead to rust from the chemicals.
