WATERTOWN, Mass. — Energy drinks are the top growth category for c-store beverages, according to Bevnet.com.
Red Bull sales topped Monster for the first time since August, said the article, according to a Wells Fargo Securities Report. The report details sales data over a four-week period ending Jan. 17.
Energy drink sales increased 9.3 percent over the four weeks, noted the article. Monster’s volume sales increased by 11.5 percent as its price decreased by one percent.

Red Bull experienced a five percent price increase on Jan. 1, boosting sales by 7.7 percent, stated the article.
Overall soft drink volume sales were down 3.8 percent during the four-week period, reported the article. The category had a 1.2 percent gain in dollar sales because of a 5.2 percent price hike.
