INNISFIL, Ontario — Rod’s Esso will commemorate its 20th anniversary on Saturday, May 16, with free food and giveaways, according to Simcoe.com.

Customers will receive a free carwash with any purchase, noted the article. They can also enjoy complimentary hot dogs, balloons and face painting. Local businesses have provided prizes like barbeque.

Owner Rod Boynton opened the gas station in 1995, noted the article. At the beginning he was losing money, but after adjusting prices and adding elements to the business, Boynton survived.

A carwash, lube shop, coffee and donuts were eventually added to the location, reported the article.

Boynton’s son Scott manages the location, shared the article. The senior Boynton also gives credit to his wife and other son for the business’ success. He acknowledges the importance of people to a successful organization.

“If someone is leaving the place with a smile on their face, then you know they are coming back. If they’ve had a problem they won’t be back,” Boynton said in the article. “It’s all about building relationships with people.”
