Hand wash relocating after 23 years

MILWAUKEE — The owner decided to merge with another carwash because of rising rent and a planned new development.

MILWAUKEE — Wash Express is relocating its business after 23 years in the same location, according to DNAinfo.com.

The hand wash is moving 1.5 miles away from Wicker Park to Humboldt Park, said the article. It will merge with Xtreme Clean Hand Car Wash. The last day at its current location is Dec. 31.

Wash Express opened in 1991 and employs eight people, noted the article. One of owner Sam Talarico’s reasons for moving his business is higher rent, which recently rose to nearly $6,000 per month.

One customer shared in the article that he will follow Talarico’s business wherever it goes, reported the article.
