PARK RIDGE, N.J. — There are two main reasons why Hertz is going green: because it will save the company money, and because it’s good for public relations, according to carrentals.co.uk.
Hertz will be introducing 200 of its new energy-efficient machines at locations this year. After the company is given feedback on the machines, the plan is to bring in 3,700 more of them to the U.S. and Europe.
The image improvements are obvious, but the way it will save money is less so. The company plans on saving by not having to pay for 130 million gallons of water, and also by reducing its energy costs.
Green Team Partner, LLC is the company that created the new carwash system, which will also be able to save Hertz on produce volume and shipping costs, resulting in nearly 80 percent savings in that area.
Hertz is also switching to LED lighting, and installing solar power systems to generate electricity.
