CHICAGO — The International Carwash Association (ICA) will sponsor Grace for Vets and provide support for the global Veterans Day Free Car Wash Program beginning this fall, according to a press release.
In conjunction with a volunteer board, the ICA will continue the efforts of the program’s founder, Mike Mountz, in hosting a one-day event on Veterans Day, stated the release
For this event, wash operators offer free carwashes to veterans and active-duty military, reported the release.
Established in 2004, the event has grown to include more than 2,800 carwash locations throughout four countries, continued the release, and over 230,000 cars were washed for free during last year’s event.
“We are so pleased to be involved with Grace for Vets,” said ICA President Gary Dennis in the release. “It is such a great program and has done so much to publicize our industry’s philanthropy and support of our military.”
The Grace for Vets Volunteer Group will be chaired by Mountz as well as Mark Curtis, past president and current board member of ICA, who will serve as its president, added the release.
ICA membership is not required, noted the release, and Grace for Vets will continue to welcome all carwash operators to participate in the program.
“I am thrilled to see Grace for Vets continue with the support of the ICA,” stated Mountz in the release. “I was concerned that my retirement from the industry would mean the end of Grace for Vets, but the ICA has stepped up to continue this great event well into the future.”
