Carwash manufacturer makes Inc. 5000 list
BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Hydra-Flex Inc. ranked No. 3,047, with a three-year sales growth of 114 percent, on the 34th annual Inc. 5000, according to a press release.
Inc. magazine’s list represents “the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy — America’s independent entrepreneurs.”
This is the second year Hydra-Flex earned a spot on the list, and the company was one of 177 manufacturers honored.
In addition to Hydra-Flex, the Inc. 5000 list features companies including Pandora, Yelp, Timberland, LinkedIn, Zillow and Domino’s.
PDQ receives auto dealer OEM approvals for wash systems
DE PERE, Wis. — PDQ Manufacturing Inc. has received approval by 12 auto dealer OEMs for its LaserWash® AutoXpress® and ProTouch® AutoGloss in-bay automatic vehicle wash systems, according to a press release.
The 12 dealers include: Chrysler, Hyundai, Jaguar/Land Rover, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan/Tech-Mate, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen/Audi and Volvo.
Extensive evaluations conducted by the dealerships verified that PDQ’s LaserWash AutoXpress and ProTouch AutoGloss meet strict industry performance standards required for OEM approval.
The LaserWash AutoXpress features touch-free wash technology for a fast cleaning process with the ability to wash up to 23 vehicles, including large SUVs and trucks, per hour.
The ProTouch AutoGloss system is an energy-efficient, three-brush gantry-style system that offers a larger wash envelope as well as next-generation brush control precision.
Glass repair company partners with Russell Wilson
SEATTLE — Northwest glass repair company All-Star Auto Glass is collaborating with the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson to support Seattle Children’s Strong Against Cancer initiative, according to a press release.
In honor of the new partnership, the glass repair company will launch commercials featuring Wilson. All-Star Auto Glass will also feature monthly drawings for the next three years to give away NFL official “The Duke” footballs autographed by Wilson.
Customers will be entered into the drawing for every purchased retail windshield replacement. At the end of each month, a winner will be randomly selected and notified through email and Facebook.

ICA to sponsor Grace for Vets
CHICAGO — The International Carwash Association (ICA) will sponsor Grace for Vets and provide support for the global Veterans Day Free Car Wash Program beginning this fall, according to a press release.
In conjunction with a volunteer board, the ICA will continue the efforts of the program’s founder, Mike Mountz, in hosting a one-day event on Veterans Day. For this event, wash operators offer free carwashes to veterans and active-duty military.
Established in 2004, the event has grown to include more than 2,800 carwash locations throughout four countries, and over 230,000 cars were washed for free during last year’s event.
ICA membership is not required, and Grace for Vets will continue to welcome all carwash operators to participate in the program.
WEF reveals 2015 StormTV Project winners
The Water Environment Federation (WEF) announced the winners of the 2015 StormTV Project competition, according to a press release.
The project, launched in 2012, “recognizes, highlights and promotes the invaluable work of stormwater professionals worldwide” through videos submitted from equipment manufacturers, nonprofit organizations, government entities and consulting firms.
More than 35 expert judges reviewed approximately 150 entries, and the winning videos were selected based on “message communication and quality as well as content matter and relevance.”
The Australian Car Wash Association’s (ACWA) video, “Stormwater Pollution The Dirty Truth: Home Car Washing,” was selected as the winner of the Public Education Category, informed the release. You can watch this video at www.thedirtytruth.com.au.
The winners were honored with a video screening and awards ceremony during the 2015 WEFTEC Stormwater Congress in the Stormwater Pavilion Theater.
AOCA on board for Car Wash Show 2016
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The International Carwash Association (ICA) and the Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) announced they will co-locate AOCA’s annual convention and trade show with The Car Wash Show starting next year, according to a press release.
The Car Wash Show 2015 attracted approximately 7,000 car care professionals, which is a 22 percent increase in attendance over last year’s event. AOCA’s iFLEX, an international fast lube exhibition, generally attracts more than 700 visitors.
The Car Wash Show 2016 will take place May 9-11 at the new Music City Center in Nashville.

New Wave Industries appoints director of corporate accounts
NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. — New Wave Industries Ltd. announced Jay Dayak joined the company as the director of corporate accounts for the Eastern U.S. region, according to a press release.
Dayak has 25 years of experience in industrial and OEM engineering, systems integration and national account sales in the carwash industry.
Prior to joining New Wave Industries, Dayak was the regional account sales engineer and distributor development manager for Norgren Industrial Engineering. Dayak has also held several positions, including manager of national account sales, over a 15-year span for Belanger Inc.
In his new position with New Wave Industries, Dayak will be responsible for supporting PurClean™ PurWater™ distribution and national accounts for the Eastern region of the U.S.
Mark VII hires new sales team member
ARVADA, Colo. — Mark VII Equipment Inc. announced the addition of Steve Collins to the sales team, according to a press release.
Collins has assumed responsibility for direct sales in Florida and has replaced Al Cope, who has retired.
Collins has sales experience as well as 28 years of experience in operations management at a multisite carwash operator.
Cleaning Systems Inc. expands sales team
DE PERE, Wis. — Cleaning Systems Inc. (CSI) announced the addition of Brett Phillips and John Pinson, according to a press release.
Phillips has joined CSI as Lustra regional sales manager and Pinson is a sales consultant covering Texas.
Phillips has more than eight years of experience in the carwashing industry and is from Olympia, Washington.
Pinson, from Austin, Texas, started his career in the carwash industry working at a local carwash chain during his time at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
