BERWYN, IL — The fire department here confirmed that an explosion lifted a carwash roof and collapsed an interior wall, mysuburbanlife.com reported.
The June 1 story stated that the cause of the explosion at Clean & Brite Car Wash is not yet determined. But, the blast was strong enough to pick the roof up and drop it back onto the building.
The explosion occurred at 4:02 p.m., and two carwash patrons suffered minor injuries. Fire officials were initially scared an attendant at the carwash was buried in the rubble at the site, but a search found no other victims.
Investigators first thought a natural gas leak caused the explosion, but the preliminary investigation showed that there was no leak. The blast is still under investigation.
