AKRON, Ohio — Professional Carwashing & Detailing (PC&D) magazine’s 2019 Professional Carwashing Industry Report found that carwash operators are optimistic about the future of their businesses with year-over-year car counts and revenue on the uptick.
According to 60 percent of survey respondents, car count “increased” or “increased significantly” from 2016 to 2017. Year-over-year revenue comparisons showed virtually the same trend, with 66 percent of carwash operators indicating revenue in 2017 “increased” or “increased significantly” from 2016.
Most carwash operators are also upbeat about their growth during 2019, with 54 percent of respondents saying that they are either planning or considering launching or acquiring a carwash this year.
The report also indicates that competition is growing. According to the report, 24 percent of carwashes compete with six to 10 carwashes in their services areas.
